Outside In

I’ve always favored seeking rich experiences above all else.

The impulse to express and understand some of those internalized experiences, stimulates the impulse to begin a painting.

From there begins an improvised dance, of laying down a foundation, and building on it through layering, and excavation.

I juxtapose layer after layer, building on my changing sense of harmony and evolving visual vocabulary. I’m a student of the work as it comes out the other side, moving between adding to and excavating backwards through previous lives to pull out my most current reality.

In each piece I’m stretching towards connecting to the simultaneous permanence and impermanence of all our combined experiences.
